Locksley Fields update

Well it's September already and about time for an update! The flock is still in Missouri. There are now just 10 Shetlands, most of which are my keeper flock.. I have one sheep still for sale- details below. The keepers include seven ewes, which I've dubbed the magnificent seven, because they are my favorites after 10 years of working on spotted Shetlands... I really tried to reduce the flock as much as I could, and that seemed to be the minimum number I could come up with.. I hope to figure out a way to start the flock up again and have some lambs next spring after going "dormant" for awhile. I'm currently in town without space for sheep, but I'm working on some ideas- either a small place on land or finding a place to keep them nearby.

Well, that's about it for farm-related news.. There are still shetland fleeces available from shearing this spring, when I made a trip down to get vaccinations, etc. done. Sold wool has been updated and listings are current.
Pictured above is my original ram, Fletcher Sundance. I was very lucky to have had the chance to start my flock with this incredible little ram.. He was all of the things the I think a Shetland should be: compact size, great conformation, including a naturally short little v-shaped shetland tail, nice face and horn set, in addition to a fantastic calm disposition. I guess you could say my goal has always been to create spotted Sundances.

Here's the last ewe available:

Spring Sales List Update

The sheep are currently located in southwest Missouri, near the town of Mount Vernon.
Transportation to or on route to northern Indiana (Elkhart area) may be possible for $60 per head for ewes and $80 per head for rams (because the boys will be more difficult for me to figure transport out).

EWES:

Locksfield Kaleigh
S30184 (Click for pedigree)
Black Bleset Ewe- Born 9/13/2008
Sire: Locksfield Joaquin
Dam: Locksfield Kaya Pepper

This young ewe has great conformation and a nice frame. Her bloodlines are excellent and I'd expect her to throw some flashy spotted rams. This is a shy girl with a very black fleece. Pretty ewe. $250.. reduced: $200

Minwawe Hopper

S20441 (click for pedigree)
Moorit Smirslet Ewe -Born 3/25/2005
Sire: Minwawe Captain
Dam: Minwawe Flopsy

Hopper had a set of darling moorit and white boys in 2007 and a fall lamb last September. Her lambs, always spotted, have all been very well put together- great conformation. Hopper has very good conformation herself and she is a friendly ewe. She is $325... reduced: $250

RAMS:

Prices are very low on the rams as I'm very motivated to reduce the number of rams on the farm. Prices do not reflect their quality!

Locksfield Joaquin- born 4/15/2007
NASSA registration # S27915 (click for pedigree)
Sire: Sheltrg Pines Jerome
Dam: Minwawe Hopper

Handsome moorit yuglet sokket ram. Proven- has beautiful spotted lambs on the ground. Has great conformation and more single coated fleece. $250.. reduced: $190

Locksfield Montague..

S28538 (Click for pedigree)
Sire: Minwawe Tornado
Dam: Locksfield Amber Myst.

Heavy horns.. Quite a looker. Good conformation, plus a beautiful, soft, double coated fleece. I registered him as moorit, but he may be mioget. Out of only 7 ewes, I'm keeping his twin sister and two half sisters. I really like these bloodlines! He is easy to halter and is a small sized ram, however, he does have a behavior issue- email for details. $150... reduced $100

Locksfield Marco
(Locksfield Joaquin x Locksfield Morgance)
Born 6/5/2009.
Moorit Smirslet ram. His twin is the flashy moorit flecket ewe in the photo. Shorter fleece. Horns are higher and smaller curl, but have good distance from his head. Photo is from October. Good conformation and tail. I can't pair him with his dam or aunts... so his price is only $180.

Llamas for sale

I haven't posted llamas on here for a long time, but we have come to the realization that to move some llamas to new homes, we need to reduce prices dramatically. We are primarily looking for good homes where they will have shelter, enough to eat (hay or grass seems to keep them in good condition, though they do enjoy llama pellets), will be shorn every spring, and be kept up to date on vaccinations.

We have a pair of males, pictured above, both intact and from excellent bloodlines. They come with ILR papers and can be stud males. Midknight, the black male, is a Silver Peru grandson as well as a LW Sante Fe grandson. Dakoda, is a grey, red and white male. His grandsire is Tocanoa's Tocaya, the 1999 National Champion.
Both males have had basic halter training. They are 5 years old. We would prefer to sell them as a pair and we only asking $475 for both.

We have another really excellent ILR registered male available. Angelino is a half Argentine male. He is proven. He has fantastic bloodlines and extremely heavy wool. We paid nearly $1000 for him, but since we have no plans to raise llamas in the near future, his price is now $600.

You can read more information on these guys and see what I previously had them priced at on the website at: http://www.geocities.com/malindajane/salellamas.html
